5 people have today died in a fire tragedy in Kibokoni area, Old Town Mombasa. The five include a child and a woman whose bodies were later taken to Coast General hospital for postmortem.
The cause of the tragedy which is claimed to be (Liquid Petrolium Gas)LPG is yet to be established.
Ali Shariff, the county Director of operations and services confirmed the incident remarking the dispatchment of 2 fire engines to put off the fire.
The fire which spread to more than 2 houses led to the loss of property and hospitalization of several others.
“We do not know if those who are still inside will come out alive. The fire is big and scary,” Said Tuma Nana, a witness.

Others who sustained burns have been rushed to the hospital.
Salim Hashim,MCA aspirant for Old town applauded the area youth for their big role in putting off the fire in collaboration with the office of the senior chief and administrators in their effort.
“We are yet to establish the exact cause of the fire.The response has been prompt, I would like to thank the youths who came in handy to help in containing the fire” Hashim Said.
