Macalder residents of Nyatike subcounty in Migori demonstrated at the Nyatike police station on Wednesday, claiming the forest officers frightened their kid and drowned him in the river Migori.
They protested the continued harassment by police in the gazated forest, saying the matter is still in court.
The angry locals insisted that the teenagers who were in their morning activities were frightened by the police officers and jumped into the river, where one succumbed.
According to the eyewitness, he pleaded with the police officers to save the situation, but they said divers would be sent to rescue the situation in vain.
He said the two survivors at the river bank were shocked, and he advised them to go home.
Maurice Seda, dad asked for justice saying there is uncalled for arrests which has been going on in the forest.
Area MCA Felix Okwanyo wondered why officers are in control of the forest yet the gazzetement of the forest is still in court.
Nyatike OCPD Dorothy Migarusha asked the locals to be calm as they initiated the investigation.
