More than 1000 residents from Sega in Ugenya Constituency Siaya county have benefited from Eliud Owalo Foundation by getting free medical services for varies diseases.
An initiative of the cabinet Secretary for ICT and Digital Economy Eliud Owalo, who also has been organising free medical camp across the Nyanza Region Says that the initiative targets those who are coming from low income families who cannot afford paying for medical services in the hospitals.
While addressing the people during the program,Owalo said that his aim is to make sure that every person coming from Ugenya and has had chronic diseases that they are not able to pay for the treatment by themselves is going to get the treatment for free and a follow up will be done for those with chronic diseases.
” I am doing this to help our people get free treatment for chronic diseases that they are not able to pay for in the hospital and a follow up will be done with our team to ensure that the people gets help curtesy of the medical camp”, Said Owalo.
Mary Akoth is one of the beneficiary of the free medical camp who asked the Cs Eliud Owalo to bring the medical camp to the area most frequently to help them as they are not able to pay for the medical services in the hospital.
” I have been longing to be screened for cervical cancer but I was not able to go for the test because of lack of money,I thank Eliud Owalo for the medical camp that has made me known my status today for cervical Cancer,” Said Mary.
Some of the residents who also spoke to KTMN said that the medical camp has really impacted their lives as most of the residents comes from a humble background that they are not able to cater for their medical bills.
Owalo also said that the agenda of the government is to ensure that Kenyan lives are lifted by providing essential things like health and distributing seeds and fertiliser for the farmers to ensure food security in the country.
