Kisumu County Senator Professor Tom Ojienda has embarked on lifting the youths by securing jobs from different agencies.
While speaking to KTMN, Prof Ojienda said that his mission is to make sure that youths get employment from different government agencies.
Recently, a total of 34 youths secured a chance at the National Youth Service in a bid to help them have employment.
“We have taken 34 youths to NYS and others to Kenya Defence Forces. Some also secured a chance at the Training Teachers College and this will help the youths to be self-reliant”, said Ojienda.
Since he took over as the Kisumu senator More than 100 youths have benefited in securing jobs in different agencies.
” I have been struggling to secure a chance for my boy in college but I did not go through because I did not have money to pay for college fees,” Said Consalata Atieno one of the parents.
Dr.Simon Peter, manager at the Senator’s office, urged all the parents who might be facing challenges of paying fees to go to the senator’s office and register their requests to get help.
” We are going to ensure that youths get employment to reduce unemployment within Kisumu County”, said Dr Simon.
In North Nyakach ward in Nyakach Constituency, Senator Ojienda initiated the process of constructing dykes along River Awach to control the perennial floods that have been a menace for many years.
Even though the office of the Senate does not have any allocation Prof Ojienda outlined that he uses his resources and the few resources he asks from the well-wishers to give back to the community
