The Liberal Demiocratic Party (LDP) has called on the Kenya Kwanza administration to impemenmt the constitution, throwing cold water on calls by President William Ruto to have a nation wide dialogue.
LDP Secretary General Mr Denise Kodhe maintained that dialogue was not the solution to problems Kenyans currently bedeviling Kenyans.
“Issues being raised by Gen Z through the ongoing protests and demonstrations revolves around poor leadership and bad governance. The youth very clear with their demands. They have pointed out areas that need to be changed by president Ruto’s administration and this,” he said in a press release.
According to Mr Kodhe, diversionary tactics and maneuvers such as national dialogue and government of national unity are just tactics for maintaining the status quo which has nothing to do with what dissatisfied Kenyans especially the youth are asking for.
“As LDP, we are appealing to president William Ruto to listen to the youth keenly and to focus more on implementing issues they have raised.”
The party maintained that previous dialogues and government of national unity have been a conduit to safe guard the plight of the political class and not for the suffering ordinary Kenyans.
“ They have always been opportunities and a windows for political reconciliations and for recycling greedy and corrupt politicians and sycophants which will not add any value to the country’s bad economic situation but only increase the expenditure by bringing onboard others to join the band wagon for eating and looting public money through corruption,” the statement further read.
Mr Kodhe termed the government of national unity “as a political solution for a political problem but not a solution to bad governance and poor leadership.”
“Kenyans and Genz should not accept anything less except the implementation of pertinent issues that they have raised such as dissolving parliament, fighting corruption, tribalism and nepotism, creating employment opportunity and reducing government expenditures by eliminating or cutting down unnecessary expenses,” he said.
The party noted that both President Kenyatta and opposition chief Raila Odinga were oblivious of the suffering and the public outcry and ought to act with speed to address the matters at hand.
“In any case Government of National unity is just about recycling of the same corrupt individuals and politicians who have used their previous position of engagement to loot and mismanage the economy and national resources entrusted to them for service delivery through corruption,”
He said LDP strongly advocates for dialogue as a solution to disputes and conflicts but not “poor leadership and governance by the Kenya Kwanza and previous governments since independence.”
“As a party, we urge Kenyans, Gez, the youth, Civil Society and Human Rights organizations and other non- State actors to continue with peaceful agitation until meaningful changes are executed and realized in this great country called Kenya,” he said.
