An old man was on Sunday night killed by own son in Rongo sub County of Migori County. over tree felling dispute

The 77 year, John Okong’o was attacked at Nyaburu village in Koluoch sub location of East Kamagambo by 37 year old son Antony Okong’o.

The deceased had alalegedly questioned questioning why the son had destroyed trees in the compound.

The suspect allegedly picked a jembe, hit his father on the head killing him instantly and took off to unknown destination.

Villagers who were baying for his blood upon getting information of his action in vain hunted for himĀ  in nearby thickets.

He(suspect) at night presented himself at Kamagambo police stationĀ  where he was locked up.

Angry villagers thronged the police station demanding that the suspect be released to them with officers on duty pleading with them to allow them conduct investigations.

Rongo residents were shocked and were overheard discussing in low tone why the suspect had to kill the father over trees destruction disputed..

Villagers who sought anonymity argued that the suspect has a record of consuming bang and had been threatening his parents whenever they inquired his behavior when he reported home late.
