Nyanza Regional Commissioner Ms Florence Mworoa has called for political tolerance from factions of politicians in Migori County.
This follows a series of violence instigated by the politicians across the county in funerals and public gatherings in not more than three months.
The aftermath of the violence left several mourners injured with a young girl reported to have broken her leg.
However, Commissioner Mworoa while briefing the press after meeting the National Government Administration officer (NGAO) in Migori town yesterday, announced that none of the parties had recorded a statement with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The Administrator consequently gave an assurance that the police are silently investigating the matter and arrests will be made as soon as the culprits are known.
Ms Mworoa ruled out the possibility of the police and other security agencies’ involvement in the recent chaos as alleged by one side of the fighting parties and some members of the public.
Instead, she said that should any aggrieved party have evidence of police involvement in civil disobedience, they should report them immediately for action to be taken against them.
“I have no information regarding rogue officers who were paid by one politician to act as his goons using state weapons, but I call upon members of the public if they have names of particular officers who they think are partisans, they should report them to the County security team for investigations,” pleaded the offical
In recent violent cases, the region has experienced an increase use of firearms where individual licensed gun handlers have been accused of using their weapons recklessly causing fears among the public.
“The law is very clear on using the firearms and anyone allowed to hold them is expected to handle them properly. Any person who will be found misusing firearm will have their licenses revoked,” warned Ms Mworoa
