A section of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leaders in Kilifi have issued an ultimatum to the county’s IEBC officials to announce the tallied results of MCA and MPs within six hours.
The leaders who have been waiting for the results at Pwani University, the County’s tallying center, told the media that the process has delayed compared to other parts of the countries.
Led by Kilifi County Senator Stewart Madzayo, who is also vying for the county’s senatorial position, the leaders have lamented delays in release of the MCA and MP results across the constituencies in Kilifi.
Madzayo added that the delays are already causing suspicions among residents of Kilifi.
Kilifi woman representative Getrude Mbeyu argued that Kilifi county is not as big as Nairobi and other counties where results are already being released.
The leaders had prior met with IEBC Kilifi county officials to air their concerns about the slow process of tallying in the county.
This happens after Kilifi County IEBC manager Hussein Gure told the media that the Board is working around the clock to announce the results once tallying process is complete.
Gure had argued that Kilifi is one of the biggest counties in the Coast region and thus the residents should be patient while the commission expects to release the MCA and MPs results at least by Friday.
He also disputed that the tallying process has not delayed since it is still within the stipulated time.
