A political conflict is brewing in Kilifi between Orange Democratic Movement( ODM) and Pamoja African Alliance( PAA) over the Azimio la Umoja political tour in the Coast region.
PAA wants to be included in the rallies but ODM insists that the rallies are an ODM affair.
Speaking at a press conference in Kilifi ODM headquarters led by ODM Kilifi County Secretariat vice chairman, Joseph Chilumo clarified that His Excellency Raila Odinga will visit Kilifi County on 19th February 2022.
“Raila will begin his tour in Bamba then Kaloleni followed by a rally in Rabai after which he will meet residents at Mazeras purely on ODM invite,” Chilumo said.
Chilumo clarified that Azimio has its secretariat which coordinates activities and had not given out any of the party’s activity to take place during his weekend visit.
PAA party leader Amason Kingi however refuted the claims on the basis he had met Raila Odinga who assured him that the rally will be an Azimio la Umoja Affair.
“I am currently in Dubai and have met Raila here who wanted to visit Kilifi upon his return to the Country. I asked if it would be an Azimio or ODM tour and he clarified it would be an Azimio affair. We agreed to form a joint committee between PAA and ODM,” Kingi said.
Kingi said he has already forwarded 3 names to the county Chairman Teddy Mwambire who didn’t respond.
He also said that Raila wanted a big rally but was surprised to hear that ODM members didn’t want his party in the rally.
As at now, Posters bearing both PAA and ODM candidates have been designed in readiness for the weekend meeting.
