Migori woman representative Ms Fatuma Mohammed has challenged women and youths in the county to form cooperatives to benefit from government funding.
Speaking in Kuria West and Uriri Sub Counties where she distributed assorted tents, chairs and catering equipment to women groups, Ms Mohammed called on the electorate to form cooperatives and groups to tap from government resources.
“The current allocation given to my office may not suffice everyone owing to its scarcity hence the need to form groups.”

Ms Mohhamed who was accompanied by National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) coordinators further challenged the government to boost allocation to help sustain more development projects across the county.
She noted that the office of the woman representative had received a meager allocation from the ex-chequer, a move she associated with “little input towards improving the livelihoods of the marginalized groups.”
“I am at times forced to outsource funds or even dig deep into my pockets to facilitate some of these projects. The government should increase the NGAAF allocation so that we can ensure meaningful development across the county.”
Ms Mohammed
According to the Migori County legislator, allocation issued to constituencies through NG-CDF surpassed that of NGAAF despite the office catering for minority groups across the entire county.
“The allocation cannot cater for the marginalized category which I represent as well as sponsor learning among vulnerable students across the county. The treasury should consider reviewing it’s budget and ensure equitable distribution of public funds,” she said.
