Third Most Populated public school tops in KCPE exams.

Bungoma D.E.B stands out to be one of the top performing public primary schools in Bungoma county and the country at large.

Over the years it has been constantly posting exemplary results in the K.C.P.E examinations with dozens of students hitting the above 400 mark.

Despite its large population of 3766 students, with 1854 boys and 1912 girls , the school has managed to maintain its exquisite performance both in discipline of the students that is bluntly displayed in their exam performance.

Each year the school has never failed to post students to top national schools on the country. “We have a very large population of students in this school, each year over 400 students sit for the KCPE exams and we have never failed to post good results despite that,” said Tobias Khisa,the school principal.

Yesterday the atmosphere in this school was filled with excitement after the release of the KCPE results by the Education CS prof George Magoha. Teachers in the company of their students could not hide their joy as they burst out in dances and songs as they celebrated their exceptional performance in this year’s examinations. The school had a total of 19 students scoring above 400 marks with their leading student, Wanyama Maloba Happyness missing the top 10 list countrywide by just two points.

“I am really overwhelmed with joy today and I thank mostly my competitors for setting the pace for me .I am looking forward to joining the Alliance high school which is my dream school,” Happyness expressed his excitement.

The top achiever explained her dreams and aspirations in life with a  clear mind on what he wants to explore in terms of career. “After high school I would love to take an aeronautical engineering course at the university so that i can help the world be a better place .I am happy that I have managed to make my parents happy and most of all a big kudos to myself for scoring high and never giving up on my studies.” Happyness  remarked.

In the last ten years the school has maintained a clean mean score sheet. Last year it had a mean score of 310 and they are expecting to post even a higher mean this year.

“I must be the happiest head teacher.I am so proud of my students and their outstanding performance in this year’s exams. It is not easy to manage such a large populated school and maintain good performance, but here at Bungoma D.E.B failure is never an option,” said Mr. Khisa adding “We have been taking students to prominent national schools like Mang’u high ,Kenya High and Alliance schools over the years and this particular year we expect nothing less,”

The total number of candidates who sat for exams this year were 434.

Overally,public schools in Bungoma have posted positive results with a significant number of candidates bagging above 400 marks.
