United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has embarked on mass grass root registration of members in Migori County in an attempt to boost its membership.
Speaking today in Migori, County coordinator for the UDA party Fredrick Syengo said that their main agenda is to boost UDA party membership through mass recruitment.
“We want to open up UDA party offices across all the eight sub-counties in Migori as you have seen our Party’s Secretary General has been doing in different counties to make the party strong,” said Syengo.
We do not want to sleep on this job knowing that 2027 is around the corner and it is these numbers that we will need to retain the presidency

The initiative in Migori follows suit, the countrywide membership registration of members to join the party spearheaded by UDA secretary general Cleophas Malala.
Testing waters
In Nyanza, UDA recently opened up its offices in Kisumu and Siaya in what was seen as testing the depth of water, especially for the ODM party after a mass pullout of its Members of Parliament.
Syengo said that they have already identified four offices in Rongo, Awendo, Kuria West and Nyatike sub-counties which are set to be launched in two weeks’ time.
He added that their eyes are focused on the 2027 General Elections and that the mass recruitment of the members is key.
“We do not want to sleep on this job knowing that 2027 is around the corner and it is these numbers that we will need to retain the presidency,” added Syengo.
The UDA county coordinator was also accompanied by Fredrick Oremo, the county’s organizing secretary and sub-county representatives.
Oremo encouraged Migori residents to turn out in large numbers and register and become members of the ruling party.
“I want to encourage the residents to feel free to acquire UDA membership as we plan for the mega launch of the respective sub-county offices,” said Oremo.
He added that the party aims at registering more than 30,000 people in Migori County by the end of June 2023.
Oremo who applauded the level of democracy in Migori estimated the strength of the UDA party to be 60 per cent, with hopes of going beyond that after the registration and launching of the offices.
He, however, condemned the torching of UDA offices in Siaya terming it as recklessness and hooliganism.
He called for political tolerance in the region, a signed with the registrar of the political parties.
UDA is maximizing their numbers in the Nyanza region amid the open divisions in the giant ODM party.
