For effective delivery of services in Busia county, Busia governor Dr Paul Otuoma has made changes in his cabinet with immediate effect.
Deputy governor Mr Arthur Odera will also work as the CEC Member in charge of health from the Department of Water, irrigation & natural resources to the Department of health.
Mr Odera took over from Ms Beatrice Nakholi who was moved to the Department of Education and vocational training from the Department of public service management.
Ms Pamela Awuor was moved from the Department of Education and vocational training to the Department of public service management.
Others who have been affected by the changes include Eng. Andrew Meso was moved from the Department of Transport, roads, public works & Energy to the Department of Water, irrigation, climate change & Natural Resources, and his place was taken by Mr Andrew Nakitare who was moved from the Department of public service management.
Those who retained their positions include Ms Topister Wanyama, the Cabinet Executive Committee member in charge of finance.
Peter Odima retained his lands, housing & urban development department.
Mr Paul Olunga and Olekachuna Omuse retained their positions as CEC Members in the departments of sports, gender and creative arts and trade, industrialization, cooperatives, SMEs, and energy & tourism promotion respectively.
Dr. Symplisius George Mukok retained his Agriculture, livestock, fisheries, climate change, blue economy & agribusiness docket as the CEC member in charge.
The changes also affected the chief officers in various departments including Mr Elija Mwaro who was moved from the office of the governor to the Department of Trade, investment, cooperatives, SMEs, energy & tourism promotion
Mr Mwaro will also act in the position of chief officer in the department of ICT, sustainable development goals mainstreaming, & economic revitalization.
His position was replaced by Mr Solomon Abwaku who was working in the Department of Lands, housing & urban development.
Ms Faustin Ochunga was moved from the Department of Agriculture, livestock, fisheries, climate change, blue economy & Agribusiness to the Department of Education & vocational training, the position that was being held by Mr John Muroki who was moved to the Department of Water, irrigation, natural resources & climate change.
Ms. Isabela Odoyo was moved from the Department of Water, Irrigation & Natural Resources to the Department of economic planning & Budgeting which was being managed by Mr. Gypson Wafula. Mr Wafula will now manage the directorate of finance.
Ms Mercy Imo was moved from the Department of public service management to the Department of Lands, housing & urban development initially under Mr. Solomon Abwaku.
Others include Mr Kennedy Mbaja who was moved from the Department of Trade, Industry, Investment & Cooperatives to the Department of public service management.
Those who retained their various departments include Dr. Susan Outa department of Health Services & sanitation, Mr Timothy Odende department of Agriculture, livestock, fisheries, climate change, blue economy & agribusiness, Mr Saviuor Panyako sports, culture & social Services, Mr Ahmed Hafoe transport, roads, public works & energy and Mr Gypson Wafula finance.
Dr Otuoma also appointed Mr Ahmed Hafoe Ag. County Secretary, Mr.Timothy Odende Ag. Deputy County Secretary, Mr. Vincent Mutanda Chief of Staff office of the governor, Mr. Emmanuel Juma the Director of the Governor’s Press Service, and Mr. Peter Ogubi Bwire Special Aide to the office of the Governor.
