The Awendo National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) has commissioned six newly constructed classrooms at Agongo Primary School in a move aimed at improving learning conditions and expanding education infrastructure in the constituency.
The classrooms were officially launched by Awendo Member of Parliament Walter Owino, who reiterated his commitment to strengthening the education sector as part of his broader development agenda for the constituency.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony attended by education officials, local leaders, teachers, parents and students, the legislator said investment in education remains one of the most impactful ways of transforming communities and securing the future of young people in the region.
Owino noted that the construction of the new classrooms is part of a sustained effort through the Awendo NG-CDF to address congestion in schools, improve the learning environment and ensure that pupils study in safe and dignified spaces.
“Education remains the foundation of development. As leaders, we must ensure that our children have access to quality learning facilities that inspire them to achieve their dreams,” Owino said.
Addressing Classroom Congestion
The MP explained that Agongo Primary School had long struggled with overcrowded classrooms, which affected both teaching and learning outcomes.
With the completion of the six classrooms, the school will now be able to accommodate more learners while providing teachers with a conducive environment to deliver lessons effectively.
“This project is meant to decongest classrooms and improve the overall learning experience for our pupils. We want every child in Awendo to study in an environment that supports excellence,” he said.
Owino further assured residents that his office will continue working closely with school administrations, the Ministry of Education and the NG-CDF committee to identify institutions that require urgent infrastructural upgrades.
Commitment to Education Development
The Awendo legislator highlighted that education infrastructure development has been a cornerstone of his leadership since he first assumed office.
Over the years, the NG-CDF in Awendo has funded the construction of numerous classrooms, laboratories, administration blocks, and sanitation facilities across primary and secondary schools in the constituency.
Additionally, the fund has supported hundreds of needy students through bursary allocations to ensure that children from vulnerable families are able to access education without interruption.
“We have invested heavily in classrooms, laboratories, libraries and bursaries because we believe no child should miss school due to lack of facilities or financial challenges,” Owino noted.
Development Agenda Ahead of Third Term Bid
As he prepares to seek a third term in office, Owino reaffirmed his commitment to deepening development initiatives across Awendo Constituency.
He said his leadership going forward will prioritize expanded infrastructure in schools, improved road networks, water projects and youth empowerment programmes.
“Our focus remains on tangible development that directly benefits the people. Education infrastructure is only one part of a broader vision that includes roads, water access, youth employment and economic empowerment,” he stated.
The MP also called on residents to continue supporting development programmes initiated through NG-CDF and to remain united in advancing the constituency’s growth.
Community Leaders Laud the Project
Local leaders and education stakeholders who attended the event praised the MP for prioritizing education infrastructure and ensuring that resources allocated through NG-CDF are directed toward impactful community projects.
Parents and teachers expressed optimism that the new classrooms will greatly improve learning conditions and help the school handle the growing student population.
They also urged the government and development partners to continue investing in education infrastructure to sustain the progress already achieved in Awendo.
The commissioning of the Agongo Primary School classrooms marks another milestone in Awendo Constituency’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the education sector and create opportunities for future generations.
