Chonyi family seeks President Ruto’s help to burry their father
A family from Kitsoeni village in Chonyi Sub County, Kilifi County is appealing to President William Ruto to help them bury their father who once gave him a roaster as a gift.

The family of the late 85-year-old Mwatsuma Nyale said that Mr Ruto visited their homestead in 2019 while he was the Deputy President and officially launched the Rural Electrification Project by switching on the lights at Mr Nyale’s two roomed, makuti thatched house.

Stella Mbodza Mwatsuma, the last born of the deceased displayed pictures that they kept to remember that occasion and in one picture she is seen greeting Mr Ruto while his late father looks on while in another picture she is seen handing over a roaster to the then Deputy President.

The 19 year old girl from a poor background said that it was painful to bury her father without Mr Ruto knowing and that he should link up with the family to renew the 2019 bond at their hour of need.

“President Ruto came here and switched on the light in my father’s house and he was given a roaster and villagers started referring to him as ‘Baba wa Ruto’. I am appealing to Ruto to come to our aid at this trying moment and also help me join college,” she said.

The deceased son, Nyale Makiti was overwhelmed with emotions and only called for assistance from the head of state.

Mr Rogers Chilango Mabenda said that the deceased was chosen to host Mr Ruto because of his stature in society adding that it was through him that the village got electricity.

His sentiments were echoed by Mr Gilbert Peru, a family member who said that the deceased should be given a dignified send-off.
