Kilifi governor aspirant Gideon Maitha Mung’aro has today named his running mate for the August general election.
Mung’aro unveiled Flora Margaret Mbetsa Chibule, from the Rabai Sub Tribe of the Mijikenda in a colorful ceremony attended by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) supporters and several candidates supporting his bid but running on independent tickets.
He said that the process was not easy since the selection team bypassed the current Deputy Governor Gideon Saburi whom he said has been promised a national government appointment after the elections.
Ms. Mbetsa who Mung’aro said will also double up as the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for education is a teacher with a career spanning 15 years and has a bachelor’s degree in education.
Mung’aro promised to fight corruption in the County and streamline service provision so that many people can be empowered instead of making one billionaire from county funds.
“The one who will be your Deputy Governor in Kilifi County is none other than Flora Margaret Mbetsa Chibule,” he said.
Ms. Mbetsa who was accompanied by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Chibule Tsuma said that she will ensure all Early Childhood Development centers (ECD) are well equipped and that all children of school going age are enrolled despite their parents’ economic background.
Her father Mr. Chibule Tsuma is a former MP for the former Kilifi constituency in the 1970’s.
