Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro has urged motorists and other roads users to be careful during this festive season to avoid accidents.
He said this when he joined other leaders in lighting the Christmas tree at the County headquarters where he also wished residents a happy festive season.
Kilifi is among counties that are currently experiencing the El Nino rains and has recorded 21 deaths as a result of flash floods with five people having died after a car they were travelling in was swept away by flash floods along the Mariakani- Bamba road in Ganze Sub County.
Other leaders who joined the governor include Kilifi County Assembly Speaker Teddy Mwambire, Senator Stewart Madzayo, Deputy Governor Flora Chibule and former Deputy Governor Gideon Saburi.
Mwambire said that the assembly will support the Governor’s agenda but also put checks and balances on the executive for the benefit of the people of Kilifi.
