Collins Jumaisi, the main suspect in the Kware dumpsite murders, is among 13 prisoners who have escaped from Gigiri Police Station under unclear circumstances. According to a police report, the prisoners managed to escape by cutting through the wire mesh at the station’s basking bay before fleeing.

The escape was discovered when an officer and the canteen manager went to serve breakfast and found the cell door open. Jumaisi, 33, had been in custody on murder charges and was awaiting arraignment in court. His case had garnered national attention after he confessed to killing 42 women between 2022 and July 11, 2024. His arrest last month came after several mutilated female bodies were found at the Kware dumpsite, causing widespread alarm and horror.

The other 12 escapees were identified as illegal immigrants who were being held at the station. A search operation is now underway to locate all the fugitives.

Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any information that could assist in the capture of the escapees. The circumstances surrounding the escape are currently under investigation.

More updates will follow as this developing story unfolds.
