My hands are clean: Decries Governor Nassir amidts claims of Involvement in Blogger’s Abduction and Assault

Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir has categorically denied any involvement in the abduction, assault, and sodomy of a blogger over defamatory social media posts targeting his family.

Addressing the media for the first time since the incident, Governor Nassir dismissed allegations linking him and his 74-year-old mother to the attack as unfounded and absurd.

“After more than a decade in politics, neither I nor my family have ever resorted to violence,” he stated firmly, adding, “It’s shocking that public perception could link us to such a vile act.”

Nassir revealed that his mother’s home had been broken into several times in the weeks leading up to the incident, with the thieves taking only a laptop and a mobile phone.

Despite these incidents, he said his family chose to remain silent, placing their faith in God.In a pointed rebuttal, Nassir also revealed that the blogger had sent him over 800 harassing messages, to which he never responded.

He further refuted claims that the blogger was denied medical care, accusing a senior politician of attempting to manipulate the narrative by pressuring doctors at Coast General and Teaching Hospital to falsify reports.

“I am ready to cooperate fully with the authorities and clear my name,” Nassir said, rejecting suggestions that he had avoided engaging with the DCI.

He explained that his summons were postponed by authorities.Nassir’s press briefing followed the release of his close political ally, County Executive Member for Land Mohamed Hussein, who was arrested but not arraigned due to a High Court injunction.

“This arrest was politically motivated, Hussein’s only crime is his long-standing association with me,” said county boss.

Despite expressing sympathy for the blogger, Nassir maintained that his family had chosen to forgive and move on.

“We have handed this matter over to God, but the truth will come out.”The governor concluded by calling on law enforcement to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served, while vowing to clear his family’s name.
