The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Leader, Oburu Oginga, has said that politics is all about numbers, urging the Luo nation to remain united in the Broadcast government.
Oburu, who spoke during a burial event in Rongo Sub-County, Migori, said that having a strong presence in politics will help the ODM party negotiate and form a government to ensure the Luo nation receives its deserved share of national resources.
“We were left in the Broad-based government by the Late Raila Odinga, not because of any personal gains but to unite the nation together for the betterment of all Kenyans”, he said.
Oburu, however, caution those who think they will break the ODM party to wake up from the dream, adding that he will fight to ensure the party remains united as we move closer to the 2027 general elections.
He added that ODM will either go alone or join parties that are like-minded in order to form the next government.
“We do not form political parties to end up in opposition; we form parties to form government or be part of government”, he noted.
Rongo Member of Parliament (MP) Paul Abuor called upon Oburu to remain firm, focused and ignore a lot of noise within the ODM party for the betterment of the largest party in the country.
Abuor explained that ODM political leaders were happy with the leadership of Oburu, adding that they will ensure the party remains stronger before and after the 2027 general elections.
Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko, who accompanied Obur,u urged all the ODM members and the political class to take responsibility for building the party.
Ochilo cautioned those who were busy fighting for political seats instead of bringing more people into the party to desist from such utterances and wait for the right time to campaign.
“Some of us are busy chasing away our friends instead of bringing them closer in the broad-based government to enable us to form or be part of the next government”, he concluded.
