Boyd Were, the slain MP’s son
Credible sources allege that Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has enlisted ODM’s National Election Board (NEB) chairperson, Mrs. Emily Awita, to oversee a rigged process in Boyd’s favor.
This move reportedly came after ODM leader Raila Odinga rejected proposals for a direct nomination of the MP’s son, exposing deep internal party wrangles.
According to insiders, a secret Monday night meeting at Genowa Centre in Homa Bay laid out the plan.
Wanga was allegedly handed sweeping powers by Awita to appoint returning and presiding officers across more than 60 polling stations—an unprecedented breach of electoral fairness designed to guarantee a preferred outcome.
Disturbingly, revelations indicate that each polling station is set to receive KSh 100,000 in bribes to ensure compliance and manipulation of results.
At the same time, two little-known aspirants—Ajo Mbuta and Okindo Majiwa—were reportedly drafted into the race to create an illusion of competition after most credible candidates opted out of the process.
Sources claim each of these candidates paid KSh 250,000 in registration fees and received a staggering KSh 2 million in “incentives” to legitimize Boyd Were’s victory.
This alleged buying of loyalty not only corrupts the democratic process but also exposes the deep rot within the nomination exercise.
Notably, Majiwa is said to be making another attempt after a questionable deal involving the late MP Ong’Ondo Were, while Mbuta allegedly used the 2022 political season to enrich himself through Mt. Kenya donor funds.
Their presence highlights the recycling of compromised figures at the expense of genuine representation.
These revelations point to a carefully choreographed betrayal of party democracy. Unless ODM leadership and impartial electoral bodies step in decisively, the Kasipul primaries risk descending into a shameless political charade, eroding public trust in both the party and Kenya’s democratic institutions.
Efforts to obtain comment from Governor Wanga were unsuccessful, as she neither answered calls nor responded to messages.
