Safaricom has rolled out a new nationwide campaign dubbed the M-PESA Sokoni Festival, offering customers across Kenya exciting deals and product discounts as part of the mobile money service’s 18th anniversary and Safaricom’s broader 25-year milestone celebrations.
The campaign, which began this week in Mombasa, brings together more than 150 local and national businesses offering discounted products ranging from household items, electronics, devices, beauty and fashion, to travel packages.

“M-PESA Sokoni is more than just a marketplace; it is a unique family-friendly event,” said Dr. Peter Ndegwa, Safaricom CEO. “We are offering our customers amazing deals, entertainment, and the chance for local businesses to grow their brands and connect directly with consumers.”
The campaign kicked off with a Safire Connect forum, where youth and local entrepreneurs engaged in sessions on financial wellness, personal branding, and digital hustle strategies. This will be followed by the Wezesha Mama program by the M-PESA Foundation, which focuses on women’s financial and digital literacy training, with opportunities for seed capital to grow small businesses.
M-PESA agent stores that have shown exemplary performance will also be feted during the Regional M-PESA Agents Awards. For small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), Safaricom has lined up Grow with Safaricom Business forums to support business owners in areas such as digitization, market access, branding, and regulatory navigation.
The coastal activation will culminate in a public festival on Saturday, 7th June, at the Mombasa Sports Club Grounds, where shoppers will find “Deals Kuruka” and enjoy live entertainment.
Those unable to attend in person can still benefit from the campaign’s exclusive deals through Masoko.com, Safaricom’s e-commerce platform.
“This campaign reflects our commitment to supporting Kenyan passions through music, sports, culture, and enterprise,” Dr. Ndegwa added.
Over two months, the M-PESA Sokoni Festival also educates Kenyans about the company’s wide range of services, including Pochi la Biashara, Fuliza ya Biashara, Lipa na M-PESA, Ziidi MMF, Safaricom Hook, and Taasisi Till.

Safaricom remains a major player in Kenya’s economic development, connecting over 49 million customers and supporting more than 1.1 million jobs directly and indirectly. Its mobile money platform M-PESA has helped raise financial inclusion from 26.7% in 2006 to over 83.7% in 2021.
The company says the M-PESA Sokoni Festival will continue to tour various counties, bringing together customers, entrepreneurs, and communities to celebrate milestones, embrace innovation, and explore digital economic opportunities.
