‘We won’t be left outside the Azimio train’ declares Kuria youths

Kuria youth have come out in numbers to drum up support for the Azimio la Umoja Movement led by ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The youths led by Willis Misare, Senate hopeful for Migori County, defied the previous political trends of the region in the past years and break the ground for the ODM party.

“Today we have had a successful ODM youths and delegates meeting. we are out to strengthen the base support for the party in Kuria,” stated Misare at Kehancha town.

Misare who is vying for the Senate seat on the ODM ticket added that it is only in ODM that the youth have been given leadership slots under Azimio, something other political coalitions don’t endorse.

He added that the disappointment the youths have been getting from the leaders they have elected have resulted in voter apathy experienced during the registration of voters.

This is one of the main reasons he is contesting to restore hope among the youths and in youth leadership.

“We have had leaders who have not been what people expected especially the youth.

Therefore, their poor leadership has resulted in people not being interested in elections anymore,” he remarked.

Misare, while drumming support for the ODM party, noted that it is the ODM party that the Azimio Movement was born to unite the country.

He said they are not ready as Kuria youths to be left out of the train as well as in youth leaderships.

Misare is set to battle for the ticket with Eddy Oketch alias Muok Ratego, who has decamped from the Federal Party of Kenya.

Youth endorsement of the ODM party’s agenda and its policy among the Kuria community is a big reap for the party especially now that the youth are majority voters.

The past two elections have seen the ODM party being the biggest loser in the Kuria region, with youths having played a vital role in vote hunting and persuasion.

The converged meeting saw all ODM delegates from Kuria West and Kuria East sub-counties brainstorm on how to welcome their party leader.

The delegation meeting was aimed at preparation for the awaited Azimio la Umoja Movement slated for Nyanza Region, with the brigade expected to land in Migori County on Monday 14.
