A Class eight pupil dies in Budalangi before completing KNEC exams

The standard eight candidate sitting for his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education Candidate at Rugunga primary school in Budalangi Busia county died while undergoing medication at Port Victoria sub-county hospital early today a day before completing his KCPE exams.

It is believed that Reagan Okore Otieno 16 years old was suffering from sickle cell anemia for years and was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday before he was pronounced dead while receiving treatment.

Confirming his death Bunyala sub-county deputy county commissioner Dr Paul Papa noted that the candidate for a long time has battled with the disease until Tuesday when he lost his life while undergoing medication.

“It is unfortunate that we lost one of the candidates through sickness by the name of Reagan Okere before he could complete his KCPE exams. So far that is the only case we have been able to register during this exercise. I want to condole with the community of Rugunga primary school and the family,” said Dr Papa.

The index 13 at Rugunga primary school tried to sit for his KCPE exams on day two but was unable to complete it before he was rushed to the hospital and admitted where he succumbed.
