Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and his Kiharu counterpart Ndindi Nyoro have emerged as the most popular Members of Parliament, according to a recent survey conducted by Infotrak Research. The two leaders received approval ratings of 72% and 71%, respectively, in the CountyTrak performance survey.
Other MPs who made a mark in the rankings include Joseph Kalasing (Kabuchai) and Robert Mbui (Kathiani), both of whom secured 62% approval ratings. The top five list was rounded out by Gathoni Wamuchomba (Githunguri), John Waluke (Sirisia), Peter Salasya (Mumias East), and Erastus Nzioka (Mbooni), each receiving 61% approval.
The survey also revealed that over 90% of the 100 MPs ranked scored above 50% in popularity, highlighting a generally favorable view of their performance across various regions.
Interviews for the survey were conducted between October and December 2024 and covered all 47 counties. A total of 39,795 respondents participated in the study, providing a comprehensive picture of the public’s perception of their elected representatives.
Data collection was carried out using Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviews (CATI), with the responses analyzed through SPSS software. The survey’s methodology applied a 1-10 Likert scale, where 1 represented very poor performance and 10 represented excellence. Mean scores were calculated for each Key Performance Indicator (KPI) to determine the overall performance index for each MP.
The CountyTrak survey serves as a significant tool for understanding how constituents view their MPs’ effectiveness and impact, offering valuable insights into the strengths and areas for improvement in parliamentary leadership.
