Bungoma County launches Business Incubation Centre.

Bungoma County has officially launched a Business Incubation Centre to support innovative and climate-smart initiatives in agriculture.

Based at Mabanga ATC, the hub shall serve youths and women in 5 other Counties among them Kakamega, Vihiga, Trans Nzoia, Busia and Siaya. 

The programme is a partnership between tne European Union and Danish Government designed to catalyse and enable greater involvement of youth and women in agricultural and livestock value chains. 

According to Governor Wangamati, the programme is designed to support innovation, climate smart technologies in agribusiness, boost food security nutrition and job creation.

This Hub is already training agribusiness enterprises on modern and sustainable methods of agriculture, value addition, packaging and marketing.

Among other services, the hub provides the following support: Business Advisory, Access to Finance, Access to Information.

The Hub alsp offers market linkages while sharpening business skills and assisting agribusinesses to acquire KEBS certification.

So far, the hub has trained and given cash support worth Sh27 million to some 182 agribusinesses.

Through this initiative, we hope to create up to 2,000 jobs for youth and women.
