DIB Bank Kenya Expands Footprint with Launch of New South C Branch in Nairobi

DIB Bank Kenya (DIBBK), a fully owned subsidiary of Dubai Islamic Bank PJSC, the UAE’s largest Islamic bank, has officially opened its newest branch in South C, Nairobi, marking a significant step in its ongoing expansion strategy across Kenya.

The launch highlights DIBBK’s commitment to delivering accessible, Shariah-compliant financial services to more communities while reinforcing its strategic presence in the capital city. The South C branch becomes the seventh location in the bank’s growing national network since entering the Kenyan market in 2017.

“This branch opening showcases our seven years of commitment and seven branches of growth,” said Mary Kanuku, Acting CEO and Managing Director of DIB Bank Kenya. Since 2017, we’ve remained dedicated to addressing the evolving needs of our customers. This South C branch is the first of two new branches this year, with the second set to open in Nyali, Mombasa next week.”

The new South C branch will offer a comprehensive suite of personal and business banking services, all designed in strict adherence to Islamic banking principles. DIBBK emphasizes that this expansion aligns with its long-term vision to be a key player in Kenya’s financial ecosystem and the leading Islamic financial institution in the region.

“These expansions are not just about physical growth,” said Mr. Ugas Sheikh Mohamed, Chairman of Kenya’s Capital Markets Authority. “They represent DIB Bank Kenya’s dedication to becoming the country’s most progressive Islamic bank. As a proud customer myself, I know this bank is already the bank of choice for thousands in Nairobi and Mombasa.”

The launch ceremony brought together dignitaries, stakeholders, and community leaders, all celebrating what many called a milestone toward inclusive financial growth.

“Our team spent weeks engaging with local businesses and community leaders in South C. This branch was built with their stories in mind,” noted Mr. Michael Murphy, Board Member, DIB Bank Kenya. “Each branch we open is chosen based on where we can make a meaningful difference.”

Also present was Mr. Abdulla Abdulraheem, Commercial Attaché at the UAE Embassy in Nairobi, who praised the move as further strengthening the economic ties between Kenya and the UAE.

“DIBBK’s expansion aligns perfectly with the deepening relationship between our two countries. This launch reflects the confidence of UAE investors in Kenya’s financial future,” he said.

The opening of the South C branch follows a series of strategic investments in technology, talent, and infrastructure, which DIBBK says are key to enhancing the customer experience and delivering long-term value.
