Extradited Kenyan Fugitive Kevin Kang’ethe Denied Bail Following Arraignment

Kevin Kang’ethe has been denied bail or bond by the Suffolk Superior Court in Boston following his arraignment today.

Kang’ethe faces charges for the murder of Margaret Mbitu, a 31-year-old Kenyan-born resident of Whitman, Massachusetts.

The alleged murder occurred between October 30 and November 1, 2023, and Mbitu’s body was discovered in a vehicle at Boston’s Logan Airport.

Kang’ethe had fled to Kenya after the incident but was apprehended in Nairobi at a nightclub.

He later escaped police custody but was re-arrested and subsequently extradited to the United States on September 1, 2024.

The case also involves allegations of domestic violence between Kang’ethe and Mbitu.

A pre-trial date has been scheduled for November 5, 2024, at 2:00 pm.
