Hon. Walter Owino, Member of Parliament for Awendo Constituency, has reaffirmed his commitment to improving education and community development through impactful initiatives supported by the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF).
In a recent highlight of ongoing NG-CDF work, Hon. Owino emphasized the significant strides made in transforming learning environments across the constituency. These efforts are part of a broader national push to strengthen infrastructure, expand access to quality education, and enhance opportunities for learners.
Across Kenya, NG-CDF investments have played a vital role in improving schools, addressing long-standing challenges such as overcrowded classrooms, limited facilities, and inadequate learning resources. In Awendo Constituency, these interventions are delivering measurable results.
One notable milestone is the commissioning of new educational facilities at St. Joseph’s Kamwanya Secondary School. What was once an open field has been transformed into a modern classroom block, now fully operational and welcoming students. For the school community, this development represents more than infrastructure—it symbolizes opportunity, progress, and hope for a brighter future.
For years, students in the area faced difficult learning conditions, including congested classrooms that hindered concentration and academic performance. With the completion of the new classrooms, both teachers and learners can now benefit from a more conducive learning environment. Students have increased access to space and resources, enabling them to thrive academically.
Hon. Owino’s development agenda extends beyond classroom construction. Another major highlight is the provision of a 46-seater school bus to St. Joseph’s Kamwanya Secondary School. The new bus not only improves transportation for students but also enhances participation in academic competitions, sports, and other co-curricular activities that are essential for holistic education.
The introduction of the school bus is expected to ease the burden on parents and guardians who previously faced logistical challenges in supporting student travel. It also promotes equity by ensuring that more students can engage in opportunities beyond the classroom.
The commissioning ceremony for these projects brought together key stakeholders, including NG-CDF Board Director Naomi Masitsa, Board Chief Executive Officer Yusuf Mbuno, and local leadership, alongside community members and school representatives. Their presence underscored the collaborative effort behind these transformative initiatives.
Hon. Walter Owino has consistently demonstrated a results-driven approach to leadership, prioritizing investments that directly uplift communities. His track record reflects a strong focus on education as a cornerstone of development, ensuring that infrastructure improvements reach grassroots levels and benefit every child.
“These projects are a testament to what strategic investment in education can achieve,” Hon. Owino noted. “By improving facilities and expanding opportunities, we are empowering our children to succeed and shaping the future of our constituency.”
As Awendo continues to benefit from NG-CDF-funded programs, the constituency stands as a model of how targeted development initiatives can drive meaningful change. Hon. Owino remains committed to advancing this progress, ensuring that no learner is left behind.
