Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party leader Raila Odinga has reaffirmed the party’s disciplinary committee’s position to expel five rebellious ODM MPs.
Raila who spoke after meeting the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party delegates in Migori County said that the party had its own structured ideologies and interests.
He added that as a party, there are set laws that govern how its subscribers operate and consequences attached to any action contrary to the party’s laws.
“If anybody thinks that they can no longer subscribe to our set ideologies and set structures then they should resign their elective posts and seek a fresh mandate from the party of their choice”, said Raila.
The five expelled Members of Parliament Felix Odiwour of Lang’ata, Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda, Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo, Suba South Caroli Omondi and Gideon Ochanda of Bondo were accused of defying the party’s positions on various issues including 2023/2024 financial bill.
Uriri and Awendo MP’s Mark Nyamita and Paul Abuor who hail from Migori County did not attend the function.
The two were fined Shs1 million each by the ODM disciplinary committee for allegedly violating the party’s ideologies and interests.
Uriri MP Mark Nyamita on Thursday, in an interview with one of the local TV stations said that he would pay the fine only upon being convinced beyond a reasonable doubt.
The ODM leader also addressed Migori residents at the Migori Bus Park and assured them that the ODM party had an elaborate game plan to revamp grassroots networks in the county.
The ODM leader who was accompanied by Suna West MP Peter Masara, Governor Ochilo Ayacko among other dignitaries said that loyalty, faithfulness and fidelity to the party are pillars that strengthen any party.
He maintained that the national government rolls out funds to all the constituencies through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and not through the Statehouse.
His take was also echoed by the DAP-K party leader, Eugine Wamalwa, and Governor Mwangi Wa Iria among other Azimio bigwigs that accompanied him to Migori.
