A new controversy is sparkling after Muranga Women Rep Sabina Chege said election rigging is possible. She spoke during Azimio la Umoja rally in Western Kenya.
“We might have rigged the elections. Others say we rigged, there is some truth in it. If we managed to rig, even this one can be rigged,” Sabina Chege said.
The remarks set ablaze the social media with DP Ruto supporters and leaders challenging her to substantiate her statement.
City lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi tweeted “Shocking…profoundly shocking that a member of ruling Jubilee Party can give notice that plans to steak votes for Raila Odinga on the forthcoming elections.”
The lawyer wants Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji to take action over the election rigging claims.
Abdullahi noted that local newspapers editors were allegedly under orders not to publish stories regarding Sabina’s statement.
Sabina Chege was hitting back at DP Ruto who had earlier claimed that there were plans by the ‘deep state’ to stop him from becoming the president adding that he would ensure he clinches the presidential seat.
Chege was hinting that Ruto knew how the Jubilee Party came to power in which they may have used unconventional methods to win the previous election and they would do something similar.
