Members of Kakamega County Assembly have staged demonstrations following the murder of Stephen Maloba, MCA for Kisa East Ward.
The furious MCAs have condemned the act, calling upon the security personnel to be up to their task to ensure the security of everyone in the country.
“We condemn this heinous act by goons that led to the death of Mr Maloba. We also call upon the head of state to fast-track the security of MCAs in this country,” said one of the MCAs.
Death of Maloba
Maloba died after being stabbed during a confrontation between his team and that of Khwisero Member of Parliament, Christopher Aseka at a political function.
Trouble started when Maloba, who arrived late at the function was barred from accessing the function after which a confrontation that led to his stab in the chest ensued.
He was transferred to a hospital in Mbale where he died shortly after reaching the health facility.
Bad Blood relationship
The MCAs said that there had been a bad blood relationship between the diseased and the area MP, which they alleged to be the cause of the fracas.
“We can now see the results of bad blood relationship between the leaders. We call upon the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book,” said MCA from Indakho Ward.
Ongoing investigations
Kakamega County police commander Langat, said that their investigations are ongoing and so far, 50 percent has been done.
Mr Langat noted that they are working day and night to ensure that the perpetrators are known to stop false accusations.
He added that once found, they will ensure that the police will take appropriate action on the murder victims.
“We are halfway with the investigations and assure you that the victims will face the appropriate action once brought to book,” said Langat.
The police boss stressed the necessity of working together among the leaders for the benefit of the citizens.
