Knut Urges TSC Chair to Safeguard Teachers Amid Escalating Attacks

Kenya National Union of Teachers secretary general Collins Oyuu wants the Teachers’ Service Commission boss Chairperson Nancy to withdraw all the teachers facing victimization and threats from parents because of poor performances in their schools.
Speaking to journalists in mombasa county on Tuesday, Oyuu said that it was a shared responsibility between parents, teachers and students to record good or bad results and therefore condemned the recent happenings of parents evicting head teachers from the schools because of recording poor performance.

Pointing out the latest incident in mumias where the school principal was forcefully evicted by parents, the secretary general wants action taken against Mumias East MP Peter Salasya for inciting parents against teachers.
“KNUT is seeking accountability for those fostering an environment of hostility towards educators,” he added
Oyuu emphasized the shared responsibility among parents, teachers, and students in recording academic outcomes where he strongly condemned recent incidents of parents evicting head teachers from schools solely based on academic results, labeling such actions as detrimental to the education system.
