The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) condemns President William Ruto’s recent nominations of Cabinet Secretaries as a manipulative tactic that disregards the genuine concerns of Kenyans, including the youth generation known as GenZ.

As a political entity dedicated to upholding good governance, the rule of law, and human rights, LDP rejects President Ruto’s nominees. This move is viewed not only as a deceptive strategy but also as a futile attempt at public relations, which we find wholly unacceptable. The demands of the youth, who have been actively protesting for a comprehensive overhaul of the government, including the dismissal of the entire Cabinet, must not be disregarded.

Mr. Denise Kodhe, Secretary General of the Liberal Democratic Party, criticizes President Ruto for his defiance and arrogance, highlighting a failure to learn from current events affecting the nation. LDP encourages all Kenyans to persist in peaceful protests demanding good governance and insists that President Ruto and other opposition leaders refrain from manipulating public sentiment for personal gain.

President Ruto’s actions, supported by some opposition figures, demonstrate selfishness and shortsightedness. Their attempt to exploit the GenZ movement as a means to manage political liabilities by replacing them with potentially compromised individuals is deeply troubling.

LDP urges Kenyans, particularly the GenZ, to reject President Ruto’s Cabinet nominees until credible candidates with untarnished records are proposed. Denise Kodhe emphasizes the disappointment in Kenyan leadership for failing to learn from past mistakes and for underestimating the seriousness of current grievances.

It is imperative that leaders heed the calls of the people, recognizing that this moment represents an opportunity for transformative change through the power vested in the citizens by the constitution.
