The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) is urging followers and supporters of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to maintain their support for Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka in the 2027 General Elections. Kalonzo has been a steadfast ally of ODM leader Hon. Raila Odinga since 2002, and 2027 is seen as the year for reciprocation and acknowledgment of Kalonzo Musyoka’s loyalty and dedication.
Dr. Denise Kodhe, Secretary General of the LDP, emphasizes that ODM supporters should not be misled by a few self-serving leaders who are now advocating for other presidential candidates. Integrity and principles are essential in leadership, and leaders without these qualities should not be trusted with the country’s future.
The LDP will announce its own presidential candidate for the 2027 elections. It is disheartening to witness some ODM leaders, who previously criticized President Ruto, now aligning themselves with him in a manner that appears opportunistic and unprincipled. Kenya deserves leaders who are credible, honest, and steadfast, not those swayed by transient incentives.
The days when Cabinet positions were used to garner sycophantic support are long gone. It is a betrayal of ODM supporters for their leaders to shift allegiance to President Ruto without seeking the consent and blessing of the party members. The LDP stands firmly against this opportunism and calls on ODM supporters to continue supporting Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka as a beacon of true leadership and integrity.
