Life Care hospitals in Bungoma County joined the rest in celebrating World Women’s day by offering free cancer screening for women drawn from Bungoma and its environs.
Addressing the press at the facility premises on Friday, Winfred Awinja, the nursing in-charge, said the facility decided to offer free cancer screening as a way of celebrating women and giving back to the society.
However, she said that the cancer screening will end on Sunday appealing for women to visit the facility for the services.
She said cancer can be diagnosed if detected early.
“On this important day, we have decided to offer free screening services to our esteemed women as a way of showing love,” she noted.
She added that there are also ongoing sessions at the hospital for women employees as a way of motivating them to offer quality care for the patients.
Awinja argues that women are very important vessels in the society calling up on the male gender to support the women.
“We are glad that women are now fighting for their space both in the management and political space and men should accept and support their course,” Awinja said.
Awinja echoed President William Ruto’s sentiments saying that in future if the President is a man then his deputy should be a woman noting that the move will attract more women in power.
Agnes Murunga, a patient at the facility appreciated Life Care hospitals for conducting free cancer screening when women are celebrating their day noting the move encourages them.
Ms. Murunga noted that she is currently admitted to Life care hospitals battling Lupus nephritis in females of which she has underlying issues that might drive the doctor to carry out further investigations.
