Maseno School, the historic bedrock of Kenyan academia where the equator meets excellence, has announced a sweeping Sh2 billion redevelopment masterplan to mark its 120th anniversary.
​The ambitious roadmap, unveiled by the newly formed Old Boys and Friends of Maseno School Foundation, seeks to bridge the institution’s storied missionary past with a high-tech future, ensuring it remains a premier center for leadership and innovation.
​Founded in 1906 by missionary John Willis, the school’s humble origins beginning with a small cohort of students under a tree belie its massive impact on the nation’s history.
​The campus has served as the proving ground for some of the continent’s most influential figures, ininclude, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga who was the first Kenya’s vice President and a former mathematics teacher at the school and Barack Obama Sr. Who was also a renowned economist and father of the 44th U. S president.
​President William Ruto is expected to headline the anniversary celebrations on the school grounds.
The event promises a deep dive into the school’s heritage, featuring curated historical exhibitions and student performances that chart Maseno’s journey from a colonial era mission school to a national powerhouse.
​The Ksh.2 billion redevelopment plan is not merely a facelift but a strategic overhaul designed to transform the campus into a modern Centre of Excellence.

Following the school’s best KCSE performance since 2015, the administration has doubled down on its “2026 Academic Strategic Plan.”
​”We are targeting a mean grade above 11.0,” noted Dean of Studies Patrick Mboya. “Our goal is simple: 100 percent university placement for every candidate who walks through these gates.”
