Mogotio Member of Parliament Reuben Kiboret has called on Migori residents to rally behind President William Ruto in the forthcoming 2027 general elections, emphasizing the need for unity between the Luo and Kalenjin communities.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Miruya Police Station in Uriri sub-county, Kiboret reminded residents that “leadership is taken, not given,” and urged them to seize the moment to build a stronger Kenya.
The MP highlighted President Ruto’s inclusive leadership, which he said has placed the Luo community at the center of government.

He praised the President for appointing prominent leaders from the Lake Region to key government positions, including the Interior Principal Secretary, Finance Cabinet Secretary, and Energy Cabinet Secretary.
“Today, the lake people are at the heart of government. President Ruto has given this region a fair share of the government cake. All he asks in return is your votes in 2027,” Kiboret said, adding that the broad-based government is a testament to Ruto’s commitment to unity and shared prosperity.
Kiboret likened the bond between the Kalenjin and Luo communities to that of twins, Opiyo and Odongo, saying, “You people are our brothers.
We are twins, and hence we must hunt together. Kalenjins and Luos share the same lineage, and it is time we worked as one.”
The MP urged residents to hold their leaders accountable in building Migori and the country at large.
He lauded the government’s ongoing development projects, such as plans to extend the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) from Naivasha to the Lake Region and the construction of a highway connecting Naivasha to Busia.
“We must make Project Kenya viable so that all Kenyans feel included and benefit equally. The development of the Lake Region is a testament to the government’s commitment to this vision,” Kiboret remarked.

He further called for support for former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s bid for a significant position in the African Union, stating that this would elevate Kenya’s profile on the continent.
“Despite our political differences, we still have a task to make Raila’s AU dream a reality. Together, we can fulfill this dream while ensuring the prosperity of Kenya.”
Kiboret concluded by rallying Migori residents to stand with the government in 2027, assuring them that the unity between the two communities would lead to shared success.
“In 2027, we are going to hunt together. Whatever we eat, you will also eat. But this time, do not leave us behind as before.”
The MP’s remarks have sparked political discussions in Migori, with residents debating the region’s role in the next election and the broader implications of Kiboret’s call for unity.
