Tragedy Strikes as Super Metro Bus Collides Head-On with Lorry: 17 Feared Dead

In a devastating incident on the Kisumu-Nairobi Highway, seventeen individuals are feared dead after a Super Metro bus, originating from Kampala, collided head-on with a lorry in Ahero.

The accident, which occurred at approximately 2:30 am on Monday, January 29, resulted in injuries for a total of 53 passengers.

Nyanza Regional Traffic Enforcement Officer, Allan Mwangi, confirmed the casualties and stated that the collision took place when the bus attempted to overtake the lorry along the Ahero-Awasi road at the Othoo center.

The lorry was transporting sugar at the time.

Emergency responders from the Kenya Red Cross swiftly intervened, transporting multiple injured passengers to Ahero Sub-county Hospital.

Critical cases were transferred to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.

Super Metro has expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims during this sombre period.

Investigations into the incident are underway, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding this tragic collision.
