Uzima University has announced the appointment of Prof. Simon Oyuko Mbeche as its new Chancellor. Prof. Mbeche takes over from the long-serving Arch. Bishop Emeritus Zacchaeus Okoth, who has been the Founding Chancellor since the institution’s inception.
In a heartfelt address to Uzima University staff and students, Arch. Bishop Emeritus Zacchaeus Okoth revealed the appointment and extended his best wishes to Prof. Mbeche in his new role.
Reflecting on the appointment, Prof. Mbeche expressed his surprise, stating, “I did not know that one day I would be a Chancellor of Uzima University. It has come as a surprise to me.”
Rev. Dr. Cosmas Rhagot, the Vice-Chancellor of Uzima University, shared the university’s excitement about the new leadership. “We are so happy as a university with the appointment of the new chancellor.
This move will help elevate Uzima University to greater heights, building on our commitment to excellence in medical education and research,” he said.
As a tribute to his remarkable service, the university has conferred Arch. Bishop Emeritus Zacchaeus Okoth with the honorary title of Sponsor Founder Chancellor.
Founded in 2012, Uzima University is Kenya’s only institution exclusively offering Health Sciences programs, making it a unique and vital contributor to the field of medical education and research in the region.
The university continues to uphold its mission of providing high-quality scientific information through rigorous academic training in the health sciences.
