A housewife in Kilifi wins whole year shopping voucher

A housewife from Kikambala area in Kilifi County has gotten reprieve after she won a whole year’s shopping voucher courtesy of a multinational company.

Ms Faith Nandako who is unemployed said that she was overjoyed after being contacted by Coca Cola company informing her that she had won a Sh. 120,000 shopping vouchers.

She added that her husband works as a casual laborer at Mtwapa town and that the voucher will cushion her family from the harsh economic times.

“I was called by the company that I had won and I am grateful that the voucher will help me settle some financial obligations and also start a small business,” she said.

The 30 year old mother of one added that her plans were to set up a small business to supplement her husband’s meagre earnings.

Ms Nandako’s husband, Nickson Nakwaya said that her wife informed her of the good news when he had just arrived from his casual duties and that at first he could not believe her until when she received a call inviting her at the Mombasa Bottlers premises in Mtwapa to pick her voucher.

“When she participated and told me that she had won, I had reservations but I accepted when she was called to pick her prize. The voucher will help us navigate through the harsh economic times,” he said.

He said that the current economic situation in the country was so dire that many families were finding it hard to put food on the table and that the voucher will help the family sail through the period.

The head of commercial functions at Coca Cola, Joseph Menza said that the firm was currently running a Free Food for a Year campaign where participants key in digits after purchasing a soda.

“We are giving a 12 months shopping voucher worth Sh. 120, 000 to the winner and it is for a full year of shopping. The competition is also happening in other counties,” he said.
