Migori Business Mogul and politician Essau Okello have challenged Governor Ayacko to desist from targeting individual businesses in a political gathering.
Essau instead, has told the governor to call for business investment forums to discuss businesses modestly.
The Businessman who is also aspiring to become the fourth senator for Migori County stated that it is improper for a county boss to target private investors because of their political ambitions.
“I want to challenge our governor not to target individual businesses that are creating job opportunities for our people. As a governor, he is equally allowed to open a business just as others,” said Essau.
The senate hopeful termed the governor’s sentiments that he is evading tax and hence should not run a business as inciteful remarks from a public figure and a political leader.
He expressed his disappointment and fears that his business would be exposed as an illegal business despite applying for legal documentation, which he says is withheld by unknown forces operating in the governor’s circle.
“It is a bit personal for Ayacko to say I am evading tax and yet it is through his office that we get licenses. I want to tell him to tell his officers to give me the documentation they have withheld,” added an agitated Essau.
Essau’s remarks come after Governor Ayacko accused him of running an unregistered pub and restaurant in Migori.
This was during a public gathering in which both the governor and Essau were invited to mark the first anniversary of the Migori Truckers Association in Migori town.
While making his speech Ayacko defined Essau as an irresponsible, unruly and disorderly person who is running an illegal business and is not fit to be elected in any elective post in Migori county.
Additionally, the governor accused him of running around with his opponents and tormenting Migori residents.
“I want to tell my brother Essau to become a responsible citizen and follow due procedure in running a business within our county. When you license your business and pay taxes, it is the locals who benefit not Ayacko,” said the governor.
However, Essau reminded the governor that his sentiments are war drums for clannism and communal profiling, and hence risk discouraging potential investors from investing in Migori.
He said his political ambition is live and when the time is due, he will vie on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.
