Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga on Saturday visited her home village of Kochia, where she attended a local church service and interacted with residents.
The governor walked to the church alongside local residents before joining congregants during the service, where she was seen seated on linked plastic chairs among worshippers.
Residents gathered around the governor after the service as she engaged villagers in informal conversations and distributed cash donations to some community members.
The visit attracted attention from locals, many of whom welcomed the governor back to the village and accompanied her during parts of the visit.
Photos and videos circulating online showed residents cheering and following the governor through the village as she greeted families and church members.
Local leaders accompanying the governor said the visit was part of her continued engagement with grassroots communities within Homa Bay County.
Kochia is located in Rangwe constituency and is considered one of the political strongholds associated with the governor’s home area.
