Congregants affiliated with the Ministry of Repentance and Holiness held celebrations across several counties on Saturday following claims of medically verified HIV healings involving more than 50 individuals.
Large gatherings were reported in Nairobi’s city centre and other parts of the country as worshippers attended prayer and thanksgiving services organised by the church.
According to organisers, several individuals who had previously tested HIV positive later received negative test results after prayers conducted through the ministry.
Among those named during the testimonies were Peter Oyan, Millicent Awino, Rebecca Mose, Janet Jebet, Bethwel Sirengo and Irene Akinyi.
Church leaders said the cases were subjected to medical review through repeat HIV testing conducted by government health facilities using World Health Organization-approved testing protocols, including DNA PCR testing at government hospitals and the National HIV Reference Laboratory.
Health experts, however, caution that HIV management and diagnosis should continue to follow established medical guidelines, including confirmatory testing and continued clinical monitoring.
Kenya’s Ministry of Health recommends that patients receiving HIV treatment maintain antiretroviral therapy unless advised otherwise by qualified medical professionals following comprehensive evaluation.
The gatherings drew large crowds of faithful, with participants describing the testimonies as a sign of renewed faith and spiritual revival within the country.
The Ministry of Repentance and Holiness, led by David Owuor, has previously organised large-scale religious meetings and healing crusades across Kenya and internationally.
