In a lively and competitive atmosphere at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology (JKUAT) grounds, the two-day Kenya Koshien Baseball tournament concluded with Daniel Kamau and Bahati Auma emerging as champions in the Boys and Girls categories respectively. The event, which drew enthusiastic support from fans, was graced by notable figures including Shinya Tomonari, the President of Japan African Baseball J-ABS, and Benjamin Mutwiri, President of the Basketball Federation of Kenya (BFK), among others.
The tournament’s official launch on Saturday was highlighted by the presence of Japan’s Ambassador to Kenya, His Excellency Okaniwa Ken, underscoring the international significance of the event. Both winners expressed their gratitude to BFK for recognizing their achievements with prestigious trophies, acknowledging the spirited support of their fans throughout the competition.
Reflecting on the tournament’s standout performances, Technical Director Dedan Kariuki praised Mully School for their impressive debut and highlighted Bomu School from the Coast for their exemplary sportsmanship and enthusiastic fan support. The boys’ final saw Nkaimurunya Secondary School clinch victory over Friend’s School Kongoni, while St. Ann’s Musoli secured the girls’ championship in a closely contested match against Nkaimurunya Girls from Kajiado.
Overall, the event celebrated not only the athletic prowess displayed on the field but also the camaraderie and sportsmanship exemplified by all participating teams and their supporters.
