Jimmy Kingori of Nyali Golf and Country Club spectacularly showcased his golfing prowess, clinching victory at the debut Kilifi-Uganda Open golf tournament held at the picturesque Vipingo Ridge.
Outclassing a competitive field of over 80 golfers, Kingori delivered a masterful performance, carding an impressive 41 Stableford points to secure the title of Best Individual Player.
In a closely contested battle for the podium, Edwin Kiptoo of Mombasa Golf Club emerged as a strong contender, finishing in second place with a commendable score of 40 points, while Hitindera Halal secured third position with 39 points.
As the tournament unfolded, it became evident that the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship prevailed among participants, fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect and friendly competition.
Uganda claimed top honours in the team category, further highlighting the cross-border collaboration and unity celebrated throughout the event.
Speaking on the significance of the tournament, Uganda’s Consul General in Mombasa, Ambassador Paul Mukumbya, emphasized its role in strengthening bilateral relations and promoting tourism between Kenya and Uganda.
“Celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship and unity, the Kilifi-Uganda Open golf tournament exemplifies the power of sports to strengthen bonds and forge lasting friendships across borders,” said Ambassador Mukumya.
With plans to establish the Kilifi-Uganda Open as an annual fixture on the golfing calendar, Ambassador Mukumbya expressed optimism for the future of cross-border sporting events, which serve as catalysts for fostering goodwill and friendship between nations.
