South Central Seme Location chief Mr Caleb Apondi Okuon has urged secondary school heads in Seme sub-county not to send students home for unpaid fees.
During a bursary disbursement event in Kombewa, he emphasized that government funding covered students’ fees, and principals shouldn’t exploit parents by sending children home for lunch fees.
Okuon urged schools to focus on students’ performance, and the Ministry of Education to address the issue promptly.
Despite this concern, he appreciated local efforts to ensure a 98% transition rate for students from primary to secondary schools as per government guidelines.
