Suna West Member of Parliament Peter Masara led the distribution of Uwezo Fund cheques, totaling Sh 680,000, to seven local self-help groups at Piny Oyie constituency headquarter.
Despite the lower amount compared to the previous 17M allocation, Masara emphasized the fund’s importance in promoting entrepreneurship and community self-sustainability through zero-interest loans with a six-month grace period.e
The legislator encouraged active participation in these programs amidst economic challenges, stressing the need to repay funds for increased allocations and more beneficiaries.
He additionally reiterated the significance of accessible funds like the Uwezo Fund in empowering citizens, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals, and advancing county economic agendas.
Suna West Deputy County Commissioner, Mutua Bella, highlighted the program’s goal of boosting socio-economic development, urging responsible fund utilization.
Beneficiaries Margaret Arwari and Susan shared their satisfaction, affirming the fund’s positive impact on poultry farming businesses and self-reliance.
