National Treasury Launches Electronic Government Procurement System

The Ministry of National Treasury and Economic Planning on Monday unveiled a new Electronic Government Procurement (eGP) system, designed to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accessibility in public procurement processes.

The official launch event, held at the Kenya School of Government, was attended by several high-ranking officials, including the Director of Public Procurement, the Director General of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority, the CEO of the Council of Governors, the Auditor General, Public Secretary Dr. Chris Kiptoo, and Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi, who presided over the launch.

The eGP system is a comprehensive online portal that allows government entities and suppliers to carry out the entire procurement process electronically.

The platform supports functions such as registration, planning, tendering, and contract management, offering a fully integrated, end-to-end digital procurement process.

“This system is a game-changer in how we handle procurement in government,” said CS Mbadi. “It eliminates paperwork, reduces delays, cuts costs, and fosters transparency and fairness.”

To register on the eGP platform, suppliers can visit www.egpkenya.go.ke, create an account by providing their business details, and upload necessary documentation for verification and validation.

Once the registration process is complete, the National Treasury will review and approve eligible applications.

The platform is accessible via both computers and mobile devices with an internet connection.

It enables real-time tracking of procurement activities, automated reporting, and integration with other government systems for streamlined data validation.

Mbadi emphasized the importance of embracing the new system, highlighting its role in promoting equal opportunity and fostering fair competition among suppliers and contractors.

“This is a significant step forward in reforming public procurement in Kenya. I encourage all stakeholders to fully embrace the eGP platform,” he added.
