Kisumu county governor has told off the Prime Cabinet Sectary Musalia Mudavadi to keep off Kisumu affairs terming him as a selfish investor who wants everything to work his way.
In his response speech to the prime cabinet secretary, Governor Nyong’o accused Mudavadi of propelling propaganda aimed at instilling fear in prospective investors in the county.
Nyong’os response comes a few weeks after the Mudavadi’s remarks on Kisumu city terming it as insecure and not fit to attract investors and development partners.
He castigated Mudavadi for misleading the potential investors in the county when he is the number one investor in Kisumu.
“Let it be known to everyone that Musalia himself is a notable land owner and an investor in the city of Kisumu. I have not as the governor of this great county, received any complain from Mudavadi regarding the investment or properties in Kisumu,” he said.
Governor Nyong’o has further warned leaders of reckless utterance, especially in what he terms an attempt to please their political superiors.
He added the utterance by Mudavadi was aimed at ethnic profiling especially the city residents, which is a cosmopolitan city.
The governor further added that the attempts to nationally and internationally paint Kisumu is majorly driven by Mudavadi’s narrow political ambitions.
“In an attempt to please his boss, he has tried to recklessly and to his own ruin the good name that the city enjoys,” added the governor.
He boasted of Kisumu in his speech, saying that Kisumu was last week ranked the sixth cleanest cities in Africa, saying that it is a reason to be considered investors’ dream destination.
The governor further accused Mudavadi of the alleged goons linked to the looting of properties in Kisumu during the Azimio-One Kenya anti-government protests.
He accused Mudavadi of neglecting his role to fight for his community, referring to him lying low when Matilda Sakwa was sacked as the CEO at NYS.
Nyong’o also reminded Mudavadi of the importance of devolution, saying that Kisumu contributes to a better percentage of the country’s revenue.
Governor Nyong’o has also affirmed his support for Azimio-One Kenya’s struggle to liberate Kenyans from political and economic injustices.
He affirmed his belief in a just course, adding that no amount of threat whatsoever shall scare him from delivering his mandate to Kisumu residents.
